Jade Montgomery (Monroe, N.C.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Bulldogs past the visiting Wolves of Newberry College 4-0 in South Atlantic Conference women’s soccer action Wednesday night. The Bulldogs win their sixth consecutive game, improving to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the SAC. Newberry falls to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Shelby Forza (Pickering, Ontario) in front of the net, who fed Montgomery for her third goal of the year.
Wingate added to its lead nine minutes later, when a free kick from outside the box was headed by a Newberry defender into the back of the net to put the ‘Dogs on top 2-0 at halftime.
Montgomery netted her second goal of the night 21 minutes into the second half. Senior forward
Kelly Adams (Matthews, N.C.) found senior midfielder
Megan Mastalerz (Elkridge, Md.) on a corner kick. Mastalerz put a perfect ball in front of the net for Montgomery to head in for her fourth goal of the year.
Wingate added one more goal with just under 10 minutes remaining in the contest. A throw in from sophomore defender
Carson Williams (Kernersville, N.C.) got into the box and senior forward
Hannah Holsclaw (Matthews, N.C.) tipped it to Forza. She headed it over the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the year to make it 4-0.
The Bulldogs out-shot Newberry 20-10 on the night, including a 10-4 edge in shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Ashlyn Hardie (Summerfield, N.C.) had four saves to preserve the shutout for Wingate. Senior
Emily Rhoades (Buckley, Wash.) had six saves for the Wolves.
Wingate returns to action Saturday, hosting Brevard at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day, honoring their five seniors in a ceremony before the contest. Newberry travels to Barton Saturday for a 2 p.m. start.
