Jarrell Douglass (Leesburg, Fla.) had 25 points and 11 rebounds as the Saints finished the game on an 11-3 run to take a 67-66 NCAA Division II victory over Wingate University Friday night in the 2011 South Atlantic Conference/Conference Carolinas Tip-Off Classic at Limestone.
Douglass hit the game-winner with 7.4 seconds remaining in the season opener for both teams. Wingate will face Queens University of Charlotte Saturday at 5 p.m. Limestone will play Lenoir-Rhyne University Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Queens defeated L-R 69-61 in Friday night’s first game.

Chase Smith (Upper Marlboro, Md.) was fouled in the act with two seconds to go. Smith hit one-of-two free throws. Debnam snagged the rebound to give the Saints the victory.

Quan Alexander (Charlotte, N.C.) gave Wingate a 53-44 advantage with a hoop at the 10:31 mark.
The first half featured 12 lead changes and four ties. Smith’s driving lay-up in the waning moments gave Wingate a 32-31 halftime lead. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent in the first half (13-of-26), while the Saints managed only 38.7 percent (12-of-31). Limestone caught fire in the second half, hitting 55 percent (11-of-20) of its field goal attempts. On the evening, the Saints shot 45.1 percent (23-of-51) from the floor, while Wingate connected on 41.5 percent (27-of-65) of its field goal attempts. Limestone outrebounded Wingate 42-31.
The two teams split 68 points in the paint straight down the middle (34, 34). The Bulldog bench outscored the Saints’ reserves 19-10, thanks to Lewis and company. Wingate scored 12 points off turnovers, compared to eight similar points for Limestone.
