Anderson, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs trailed by 17 points early in the second half, but rallied back to tie it late in regulation, then went on to win 72-70 in overtime at Anderson University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action Wednesday night. The Bulldogs improve to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the SAC. Anderson falls to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Junior guard
Ryan Daye (Burlington, N.C.) poured in 32 points to lead the Wingate attack, including the game-winner in overtime with 1.4 seconds remaining. Daye also scored the last six points in regulation, knocking down a pair of late threes to force overtime. The preseason All-SAC selection has scored over 30 points in three of Wingate's six games this year. Senior center

Chandler Hash had 27 points to lead the Anderson attack, adding five rebounds.
Chris Ross added 16 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, while
CJ Gleaton had 13 points and seven boards for the Trojans.
Kyle Sledge contributed nine points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Wingate held an early 9-5 lead on a Daye triple, but Anderson took a 17-15 lead on a pair of Ross free throws at the 8:34 mark. After a Parker layup tied the game at 17, Anderson closed the half on a 15-4 run to take a 32-21 halftime lead. Gleaton had 10 points in the late flurry, including a triple which pushed the lead to 13 before a pair of Daye free throws trimmed the halftime deficit to 11.
A triple from Hash and a jumper by Sledge put the Trojans on top 40-23 with 17:46 remaining in regulation. Wingate began chipping away at the lead, trimming the lead to 11 on a pair of Parker free throws at the 14:14 mark. The Bulldogs then used an 8-0 run to get to within four at 41-37. All eight points in the flurry came from Daye.
Anderson pushed the advantage back to 11 at the 9:28 mark on a Hash three. Back-to-back Turman buckets, along with another Daye triple made it 51-47 with 7:17 to go. Hash pushed the lead back to six with a layup at the 3:40 mark. Turman cut the lead to four with a jumper, but a bucket from Ross made it 62-56 with 2:21 left in regulation. Daye knocked down a big triple with 1:14 remaining to cut the lead in half. The Bulldogs got a stop, but Daye missed a layup on the other end. Turman grabbed the rebound to keep the possession alive and Daye knocked down his sixth triple of the night to tie it at 62 with 30 second left. A steal from Griffin in the final seconds forced overtime.
Buckets from Griffin and Turman gave the 'Dogs a quick four-point lead in overtime, but free throws from Hash and Gleaton tied it at 66. Griffin answered with a layup, while another Turman bucket gave Wingate a four-point advantage with 2:13 remaining. Hash knocked down a jumper on the next trip, while two free throws from Ross tied it at 70 with 1:07 to go. Wingate forced another turnover to setup the final possession and Daye answered by knocking down the game-winner with 1.4 seconds remaining.
Wingate shot 43.8 percent from the field, going six-for-14 from beyond the arc (42.9 percent). Wingate shot 45.5 percent in the second half and 71.4 percent in overtime (5-7). Anderson shot 34.3 percent from the field, hitting eight-of-24 shots from three-point range (33.3 percent). The Trojans held a 44-42 rebounding advantage, while Wingate held a 19-14 edge in second chance points to go along with a 34-20 advantage in points in the paint.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, traveling to Mars Hill for a 4 p.m. start.
