Charlotte, N.C.----The Queens University of Charlotte swimming teams swept a Bluegrass Mountain Conference meet over Wingate University Saturday afternoon at the Levine Center. The Queens women edged Wingate 104-101, while the Royals won the men's contest 124.5-80.5 (

Queens (N.C.) women 104, Wingate 101 Wingate sophomore
Sofia Petrenko (Arkhangelsk, Russia) won two individual events and one relay race to lead the Bulldogs. Petrenko won the 200 Freestyle (1:52.69) and the 200 Butterfly (2:05.01). She started her day by swimming the third leg of Wingate's victorious 400 Medley Relay quartet (3:51.33). Petrenko was joined by junior

Wingate won both relays Saturday, as Clark and Koryukova swam the first and third legs, respectively on the triumphant 400 Freestyle Relay squad. The other two members of the event-ending relay were sophomore

Jessika Weiss (Macon, Ga.) led a one-two-three finish in the 200 Breaststroke. Weiss touched first with a time of 2:22.83, edging Kosheleva by 13/100 of a second (2:22.96). Wingate senior

Roman Kanyuka (Moscow, Russia) won the 200 Breaststroke with a victorious time of 2:03.37.
Wingate will host its annual Quad Plus meet at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs will be joined by three Bluegrass Mountain Conference foes in Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne and Limestone. NCAA Division I Gardner-Webb will also participate in the two-day event.
