Hartsville, S.C.----The Wingate University women's basketball team led wire-to-wire, placing four players in double figures en route to a 71-44 South Atlantic Conference women's basketball victory over Coker College Wednesday night in the DeLoach Center. Visiting Wingate (14-6 overall, 12-1 SAC) wins its 10th consecutive game overall and its 12th straight league contest. Coker is 7-12 overall and 3-10 in the SAC.
 
For Wingate, graduate student forward 
Chantal Dunbar (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the way with 16 points. The pre-season All-SAC performer added eight rebounds. Sophomore guard 
Shelby Tricoli (Waynesville, N.C.) contributed 15 points. Reigning SAC Player of Week and WU graduate student forward 
Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.) had 13 points and nine rebounds, while senior guard 
Kelli Bonner (Yadkinville, N.C.) posted 10 points.
 
Coker senior guard 
Tanesha Stenson (Nashville, Tenn.) led the hosts with eight points and six rebounds. Freshman guard 
Sydney Shull (Irmo, S.C.) and sophomore forward 
Lyric Levester (Jacksonville, N.C.) had seven points each.
 
Wingate led 22-6 when Dunbar hit an inside bucket on a Bertrand assist with 10:52 remaining in the first frame. Both Bonner and Tricoli hit two three-point field goals each in the first five minutes of the contest. Four players contributed points to the opening 22-6 explosion.
 
The Bulldogs did not allow the Cobras to cut the deficit below 14 points the rest of the way. Wingate led 35-17 at intermission with Tricoli topping the first-half charts with 10 points. Dunbar had nine markers in the first 20 minutes. Wingate is 8-0 overall this season when leading at halftime.
 
On the night, Wingate shot 43.4 percent from the floor (23-of-53). Coker made only 31.7 percent of its field goals (19-of-60). The Bulldogs outrebounded the Cobras 46-31. Wingate redshirt senior point guard 
Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va.) had six boards to support Bertrand and Dunbar. Hill filled out her statistical ledger with four points, five assists and three steals in a team-high 30 minutes.
 
Wingate turned 18 Coker turnovers into 15 points. The Cobras were not as opportunistic, scoring four points on 20 Bulldog miscues. Wingate outscored Coker 32-20 in the paint and 13-11 in bench points. Both teams had 10 offensive rebounds each on the way to scoring seven second-chance points apiece.
 
The Bulldogs return home Saturday for a 2 p.m. SAC contest against Mars Hill in Cuddy Arena and Thomas Koontz Family Court. Coker entertains Lincoln Memorial Saturday at the same time.
