Greenwood, S.C.----The seventh-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season Wednesday night, falling 3-0 at No. 21 Lander University in NCAA Division II men's soccer action. Lander improves to 10-1 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 10-1-2 on the year.
Lander got on the board 4:58 into regulation.

Sam Lofts assist to give the Bearcats an early lead.
The Bearcats added a pair of insurance goals in the final five minutes. The first came from
Michael Leach, taking a cross from
Ianis Ghachem right in front of the goal and finding the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Lander took a 3-0 lead in the 88th minute when Leach scored his second goal of the night on North's assist.
Lander ended the night with an 11-10 advantage in shots, holding an 8-3 edge in shots on goal. Wingate freshman
Pablo Jara (Santiago, Chile) had five saves for the Bulldogs, while
Barrett Nielsen collected three saves for Lander. Sophomore forward
Jon Ander (Bilbao, Spain) took a match-high four shots for the Bulldogs, while All-American
Charlie Machell (Newcastle, England) registered a pair of shots for Wingate.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, traveling to Carson-Newman for a 4:30 p.m. start. Â Â
