Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University junior attack
Ryan Vogrig (Vancouver, B.C.) had three goals and three assists to lift the Bulldogs to a 17-11 South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse triumph over Brevard College at the Irwin Belk Track Complex turf field Saturday afternoon. Wingate is 1-3 overall and 1-0 in the SAC. Brevard slips to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the SAC.

Brevard freshman midfield
Adam Wiedemann (Brampton, Ontario) led the visiting Tornados with five points, posting three goals and two assists. BC sophomore attack

Ryan Taylor (Mill Bay, B.C.) led the visitors with two assists.
Wingate never trailed, sprinting to a 9-1 lead thanks to goals from seven different players. Kotch and Watts contributed two scores each to the flurry. Vogrig put the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae, scoring on a pass from sophomore midfield
Seth Grimwood (Huntingtown, Md.) with 7:45 left in the second quarter to make the score 9-1 Bulldogs. Wingate led 10-4 at intermission.
Brevard did not fold the tents, cutting the deficit to 11-7 on a goal by sophomore midfield
Alex Bazzell (Framingham, Mass.) with five minutes to go in the third frame. Norman scored a man-up goal one minute later, to nudge Wingate's lead to 12-7. Schumacher started the fourth quarter with another EMO goal (14:33) and assisted Murphy on another score two minutes later to make the score 14-7 Bulldogs. The Tornados would get no closer than six goals down the stretch.
The opportunistic Bulldogs converted four-of-six extra-man opportunities, while the Wingate defense kept Brevard from scoring on any of its six EMO chances. The hosts outshot their mountain guests 46-27. Wingate held a 54-42 edge in ground balls.
Wingate freshman midfield
James Thatcher (East Patchogue, N.Y.) won 19-of-29 face-offs. Taylor won eight face-offs in 20 tries for the visitors. Sophomore goalie
Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) picked up the victory for the hosts, playing 53-plus minutes. He gave up eight goals and recorded nine saves. Bulldog freshman goalie
Will Sheridan (Woodstock, Ga.) finished, surrendering three goals and posting two saves in six-plus minutes of action.
Both teams play home games Wednesday. Wingate hosts Rollins (3:30 p.m.), while Brevard entertains Belmont Abbey (3 p.m.). The Bulldogs return to SAC play Saturday, March 7, visiting Tusculum for a 3 p.m. contest.
