Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with an 89-38 South Atlantic Conference victory over Brevard College in Cuddy Arena and Thomas Koontz Family Court Saturday. The Bulldogs run the SAC table at home this season, going 11-0 in league games on their Cuddy Arena hardwood. Wingate is 21-8 overall, 19-3 in the SAC. Brevard completes its 2014-15 campaign 8-18 overall and 6-16 in the SAC.

Eleven WU players participated Saturday and 11 players scored. Sophomore guard
Shelby Tricoli (Waynesville, N.C.) led the way with 16 points. Wingate graduate student forward
Chantal Dunbar (Virginia Beach, Va.) recorded her 25th career double-double with 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Dunbar has 892 career points and 807 career rebounds entering the SAC tournament March 4, 7 and 8.

Brooklyn Boston (Lenoir, N.C.) tallied a career-high 12 points in only 18 minutes Saturday. The South Caldwell product hit five-of-six field goals and two-of-two free throws en route to her record-setting performance. Bulldog junior forward

For Brevard, sophomore guard
Madison Lenox (Raleigh, N.C.) had 13 points. Lenox shared team-high honors with five rebounds. Sophomore guard
Nicole Graham (Charlotte, N.C.) added six points on the strength of two three-point field goals. The Tornados hit only 25.5 percent of their field goals Saturday (14-of-55).

Ann Hancock says. "They are an outstanding bunch. Their influence reaches far beyond the basketball court. On the court, we played well both offensively and defensively. We will need this same effort on Wednesday."

Brittany Hill (Mechanicsville, Va.) gave the hosts a 28-8 lead with 8:44 to go in the first half. The Bulldogs led 44-15 at halftime. Tricoli led the 'Dogs with 10 first-half markers, while Dunbar and graduate student forward
Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.) added seven points each.

A McGee three-point field goal on a feed from senior point guard
Jasmine DeBerry (Charlotte, N.C.) put Wingate up 56-15 with 15:39 to play, concluding a second-half opening 12-0 run. The Bulldogs shot 47.2 percent after intermission (17-of-36) and 44.2 percent for the game (34-of-77). Wingate did not miss a free throw Saturday, canning 13-of-13 from the charity stripe.

Wingate outrebounded Brevard 54-33. The Bulldogs pulled down 20 offensive boards, turning them into 22 second-chance points. Wingate's bench outscored the Brevard substitutes 45-16, while the Bulldogs held a 42-14 advantage on points in the paint. Wingate turned 18 Brevard turnovers into 19 points.

Wingate opens SAC tournament play Wednesday, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are the number two seed, while the Bears are the number seven seed. The Bulldogs have won 11 SAC regular season championships and seven SAC tournament titles, including the 2014 tourney crown. The SAC tournament final four is Saturday and Sunday, March 7-8 in Greenville, S.C. Furman University is hosting the SAC final four event at the Timmons Arena.
