Gaffney, S.C.----NCAA Division II number two team Limestone College won its 31st consecutive game, taking a 77-66 decision over Wingate University in the semi-finals of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region women's basketball tournament Saturday night in the Timken Center on the LC campus.
The top seed in the Southeast Region, Limestone improves to 32-1 overall. Wingate concludes the 2014-15 season 22-10 overall. The Limestone Saints will face Anderson (S.C.) University in Monday night's 7 p.m. Sweet 16 regional final.
For Limestone, sophomore guard
Jasmine Kearse (St. Augustine, Fla.) had 18 points to lead all scorers. Senior forwards
Celestra Warren (Chicago, Ill.) and
Precilla Hill (Mobile, Ala.) had 14 points each as five Saints hit double-digits in the scoring column. Warren shared the LC team rebounding lead with seven boards.
Wingate graduate student forward
Chantal Dunbar (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the Bulldogs with her 28th career double-double, posting 16 points and 11 rebounds. In two Southeast Region tourney games, Dunbar has 34 points and 24 boards. WU senior guard
Kelli Bonner (Yadkinville, N.C.) and graduate student forward
Andrea Bertrand (Midlothian, Va.) had 12 points each.
