Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario) scored on an assist from sophomore attack
Tanner Kotch (Butler, Pa.) with nine seconds remaining, boosting the Bulldogs to an 8-7 South Atlantic Conference victory over Catawba College at Shuford Stadium and Kirkland Field Wednesday night. Murphy's goal gave the visitors their only lead of the evening.
Wingate (6-4, 4-0 SAC) remains undefeated in the SAC and snaps a six-game losing streak to Catawba (3-5 overall, 1-3 SAC). The Bulldogs' last victory over Catawba was an 8-2 triumph over the number 11 Indians on April 9, 2011 in Salisbury.

Kevin Norman (Ocala, Fla.) led both teams with four goals. Murphy had two goals, while Kotch and freshman attack
Jeremy Sullivan (Crofton, Md.) both posted two points thanks to one goal and one assist each.

For Catawba, senior attack
Zach LaFavre (Weymouth, Mass.) had two goals. Senior attack
Jon Williams (Hillsborough, N.C.) had one goal and a game-high two assists. Catawba outshot Wingate 38-29, including a 12-6 margin in the pivotal fourth quarter.

The Indians led 4-1 at halftime. LaFavre had two first-quarter goals, while Norman posted Wingate's only opening frame score. The Bulldogs did not score in the second stanza, as the Indians extended their lead.

Adam Hebert (Charlotte, N.C.) posted an unassisted goal at the 5:35 mark, giving the hosts a 5-4 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Daniel Rew (Forest Hill, Md.) scored his first of the season to put the Indians up 6-4 only 13 seconds into the final period. Sullivan cut the Bulldog deficit in half two minutes later, thanks to an assist from sophomore midfield

Norman scored on an assist from Norman at the 11:30 mark to tie the score at 6-6. Catawba freshman midfield
Chase Scott (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied an unassisted goal with seven minutes left in regulation to put the Indians up 7-6.

With two minutes remaining, Norman scored his fourth and final goal to tie the score for the third and last time and set the stage for Murphy's heroics. Kotch's game-winning assist gives him 12 helpers on the season, second on the WU team charts to Murphy's 18 assists.

Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) and the Bulldog defense collect their fourth victory of the season when allowing single-digit goals. Ormerod played 60 minutes, surrendering seven goals and posting nine saves. Catawba sophomore goalie
Ryan Applegate (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) also went the distance between the pipes. He had eight saves while giving up eight goals.
