Alex Llerandi (Marietta, Ga.) netted three goals each as the Bulldogs conclude their Florida spring break road trip with a 10-4 NCAA Division II men's lacrosse victory over the Rollins College Tars at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall-Sandspur Field on Saturday. The Wingate Bulldogs win their third straight contest and improve to 3-4 overall. The Tars are now 4-3 overall.
The Bulldogs struck first in the contest and took an early 2-0 lead with 1:35 remaining in the first quarter on tallies from freshman attack

Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario). On the afternoon, Murphy had two goals for the Bulldogs.
The Tars responded with three consecutive goals to gain a 3-2 advantage with 50 seconds left in the second quarter of play. Wingate then tied the contest up at 3-3 with only five seconds remaining in the first half on Godwin's first tally of the game. The contest remained a 3-3 tie going into the halftime break.
The 'Dogs then commenced a run of four unanswered goals to take a 7-3 lead with 27 seconds left in the third quarter. The first score was netted by Llerandi, which ended up being the game-winner for Wingate. The Tars would cut into the four-goal deficit on a tally from junior attack
Justin Diamond (Syracuse, N.Y.) to make it a 7-4 contest. Wingate answered with three straight insurance goals to put the game out of reach and gain a 10-4 advantage.

Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) added another double-digit save performance with 12 saves to pick up the win. Rollins College sophomore goalkeeper
Jake Hogan (Westwood, Mass.) recorded seven saves and took the loss. Both goalies went the distance Saturday.
The Wingate University men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Wednesday, March 16, when they hit the road to Hickory, N.C. for a South Atlantic Conference contest against the Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. First face-off is slated for 7 p.m. The Rollins College Tars will also be in action on March 16 when they host the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds at 7 p.m.
