Carson Sterling (Durham, N.C.) netted five goals to lead the offensive attack as the Bears win their second consecutive South Atlantic Conference contest with a 17-6 triumph over Wingate University at Moretz Stadium Wednesday night. L-R improves to 4-4 and 2-0 in SAC competition. Wingate falls to 3-5 and 1-1 in SAC play.

The Bears put the first score on the board to quickly take a 1-0 lead with 13:23 left in the first quarter on a goal from junior attack
Will Remsen (Baldwin, N.Y.). The Bulldogs tied the contest at 1-1 on the goal from freshman attack
Ryan Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.). The Bears maintained a 3-2 advantage with 2:00 remaining in the first quarter of play, until a tally by WU freshman midfielder
Conor Gronbach (Cary, N.C.) tied the game up again at 3-3.

Lenoir-Rhyne took the 4-3 lead on a goal from sophomore midfielder
Ben Corrigan (Johns Creek, Ga.). The Corrigan goal would end up being the game-winner and commence a run of seven consecutive goals for the Bears in the second quarter. L-R had a 10-3 advantage going into the halftime break.

The Bears then added back-to-back insurance goals to take a 12-3 lead and cap a run of nine unanswered goals with 10:27 remaining in the third quarter. Wingate ended the streak with 6:38 to play in the third quarter on the 11th goal of the season from freshman midfielder
Daniel Godwin (Greensboro, N.C.) to make it a 12-4 contest. L-R would add five more goals in the contest to put the game away.

Six players scored one goal each for the visiting Bulldogs. Junior midfielder
Seth Grimwood (Huntingtown, Md.) scored his third goal of the season. Junior attack
Austin Murphy (Orillia, Ontario) and freshman midfielder
Robbie Williams (Pequannock, N.J.) also posted goals for Wingate. Murphy has a team-best 12 goals this year, while Williams has two goals in his inaugural season in the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold.

Jacob Ormerod (Lake Mary, Fla.) had yet another double-digit save performance on Wednesday. The SAC leader in save percentage and goals against average recorded 15 saves on the evening and went the distance. Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore goalkeeper
Ryan Crompton (Frederick, Md.) posted 13 saves. He played for a total of 56:53 and picked up the win.

The Wingate University men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Saturday when they return home to play in another SAC contest against the Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters. The game is part of a men's/women's doubleheader on Graham Gill Field at the Irwin Belk Track Complex. First face-off is slated for 1 p.m. The Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears will hit the road on Saturday to Greeneville, Tennessee to take on SAC opponent the Tusculum College Pioneers for a 3 p.m. contest.
