Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs picked up an 11-8 victory over the visiting Mount Olive Trojans in game one of Tuesday's NCAA Division II baseball doubleheader at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field, while the Trojans took the second game 11-3. The Bulldogs moves to 19-11 overall, while Mount Olive is 14-11 on the year.
Game One: Wingate 11, Mount Olive 8Freshman outfielder
Austin Turgeon (Athens, Ga.) had a homer and three RBI to lead the Wingate attack in game one. Senior outfielder
Bill Krebs (West Chester, Pa.) added a homer and two RBI, while junior outfielder
Shane Billings (Kernersville, N.C.) and freshman infielder
Reece Daniel (Asheboro, N.C.) each went two-for-three with an RBI and a run scored. Freshman infielder
Patrick Watson (Tifton, Ga.) also contributed an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs.
Derek Deler went three-for-four with two homers and five RBI to lead the Mount Olive attack.
David Mayo added two hits, an RBI and two runs scored, while
Duke Hill went one-for-three with an RBI for the Trojans.
Wingate jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. After Billings started the frame with a single, Krebs connected on his team-best 10th homer of the year, a two-run shot to right to make it 2-0.
Mayo's RBI single in the second got the Trojans within a run, but a sacrifice fly from Billings in the bottom of the frame pushed the lead back to two.
Mount Olive scored four times in the fourth to take the lead. Deler provided the big blow of the frame, a three-run homer to left to put the Trojans on top. Hill's RBI single made it 5-3.
The Bulldogs responded with five runs in the fifth. A walk and hit batsman put two on with two outs for Turgeon. The freshman connected on his fourth homer of the year, a three-run shot to give Wingate the lead. An RBI single rom Watson made it 7-5, while a
Matthew Grecco (Norfolk, Va.) RBI single put the 'Dogs on top by three.
The Trojans responded with three runs in the sixth to tie it. Deler got the Trojans within one with his second homer of the day and fourth of the year, a two-run shot to right. An RBI groundout from
Ricky Surum made it 8-8.
Wingate scored three times in the bottom of the frame to regain the advantage. Back-to-back walks put two on for pinch-hitter
Bradley Brown (Rockingham, N.C.). The sophomore put the 'Dogs on top with an RBI single, while an RBI groundout from Daniel, followed by a wild pitch gave Wingate an 11-8 advantage.
Junior right-hander
Cameron Price (Indian Trail, N.C.) got the win, moving to 2-0. He worked an inning without allowing an earned run, striking out two. Senior right-hander
Tyler Brown (Suffolk, Va.) worked a scoreless seventh to notch his third save of the year, striking out one.
Game Two: Mount Olive 11, Wingate 3Stephen Wallace had a homer, three RBI and two runs scored to lead the Mount Olive attack in game two. Deler added an RBI and two runs scored, while Hill,

Brett Lang each contributed an RBI and a run scored for the Trojans.
Daniel and Krebs each drove in a run for the Bulldogs in game two, while Billings collected two hits, two stolen bases and a run scored.
The Trojans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first. Deler's RBI single plated the first run, while a two-run homer from Wallace put Mount Olive on top by three.
Wingate got within a run in the third, getting an RBI single from Daniel and a UMO error to make it 3-2. Billings scored on a Krebs RBI single in the fourth to make it 3-3.
The Trojans responded with eight runs in the fifth to take an 11-3 lead, taking advantage of four walks, two errors and a hit batsman. RBI singles from Wallace and Hill started the scoring, while an error made it 6-3. A bases-loaded walk and wild pitch pushed the lead to five, while an RBI groundout made it 9-3. The final two runs of the frame scored on another Wingate error, making it 11-3.
Josh Flott got the win, moving to 2-2. He allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of work, striking out four and walking five. Sophomore right-hander
Danny Dunning (Suffolk, Va.) took the loss, falling to 0-1. He allowed five runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings, striking out five and walking two.
The Bulldogs are back in action Friday, opening a three-game SAC series at Newberry at 6 p.m.
