Brooke Howell (Charlotte, N.C.) scored a pair of second half goals Saturday afternoon as the Bulldogs defeated visiting Lander University 3-0 in NCAA Division II women's soccer action. Wingate picks up its second win of the week, moving to 2-1-1 overall while the Bearcats fall to 1-3 on the year.

Taylor Krakower (Wayne, N.J.) scored her first career goal in the 10th minute, finding the back of the net from the edge of the box on a feed from sophomore midfielder
Colleen Zickert (Arlington Heights, Ill.) to make it 1-0. Krakower had a pair of assists in the 3-0 win over Pfeiffer Wednesday.
Wingate took a two-goal lead with 17 minutes remaining in the second half, when a lead pass from sophomore
Gabby Fleischli (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) found Howell behind the defense. The senior beat the keeper for her first goal of the season.
Howell struck again six minutes later, beating the keeper from the top of the box on a pass from junior defender
Kaitlyn Fletcher (Jacksonville, N.C.), making the final margin 3-0.
Wingate ended the night with a 16-4 advantage in shots, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. Junior goalkeeper
Alexis Jones (Midway Park, N.C.) collected two saves to notch her third shutout of the year.
Shannon Desantis had five saves for the Bearcats. Howell had a match-high five shots for the Bulldogs, including four on goal.
Wingate is back in action Wednesday, hosting Mars Hill at 5 p.m. in the SAC opener.
