Freshman setter Rachel Alles (Tinley Park, Ill.) had 20 assists, while classmate Treslyn Ortiz (Texas City, Texas) collected 17 digs.

"Although we did win today, statistically we were nowhere near as efficient as we were last night, so we have some work to do in terms of consistency of effort and performance at some key positions," head coach Shelton Collier says. Kills from Saehler and Bludau, along with a pair of Bludau aces helped the 'Dogs jump out to a 7-1 lead in the second frame. The Eagles countered with a 7-0 run, taking a 9-8 lead on a Biro kill. A McFarlane kill put Carson-Newman on top 12-10, but an 8-0 Wingate run made it 18-12. Bludau had a pair of kills in the flurry. Another Bludau ace, followed by a kill and a block from Saehler put Wingate on top 24-16. A Carson-Newman error ended the frame.
