Wingate, N.C.----The nationally-ranked Wingate University men's and women's swimming teams host Bluegrass Mountain Conference rival Catawba College in a dual meet Saturday at the WU Natatorium (
meet agenda). The first event is slated to begin at 2 p.m.

LOOKING BACK AT THE LAST MEETING
-Wingate swept a dual meet over Catawba on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at the Johnson Pool.
-Bulldog sophomore
Ebba Stillman (Huskvarna, Sweden) won two individual events, while senior
Mariona Espinalt (Barcelona, Spain) won an individual gold and a relay gold.
-The Wingate men won four individual events and one relay race during the 2017 meet at Catawba. Current assistant coach
Leif-Henning Klüver ('17, Risum-Lindholm, Germany) won an individual event and earned a relay gold as well.

WINGATE NOTES
-The Wingate swimming teams are featured in the first College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR NCAA Division II top 25 poll released Tuesday. The Bulldog women's team is number five, while the Wingate men's team is number eight.
-The Wingate men earned a second-place finish in the Nova Southeastern University Shark Invitational last weekend. WU senior team captain
Sebastian Holmberg (Njutanger, Sweden) claimed a gold medal and three silver medals in the two-day event. Bulldog graduate student and team captain
Alex Divelbiss (Pueblo, Colo.) won a silver medal each day.
-Last season, the Wingate women finished third at the 2017 NCAA national meet. The 2017 meet marked the third consecutive year the Bulldogs have brought home team hardware (WU was third in 2015 and second in 2016). On the men's side, the Bulldogs jumped 10 places on the team leader board from their 2016 appearance, scoring 198 points to finish sixth at NCAAs.
