Wingate, N.C.----The Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears got a goal in the 16th minute Saturday night and made it stand, holding off 24th-ranked Wingate University 1-0 in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action. The Bears move to 9-2-3 overall and 5-2-2 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 10-4-1 overall and 7-1-1 in league play.

Ignacio de Goya making a run down the left side. He got into the box and lined one into the lower right corner from the left side of the box, netting his 11th goal of the year to give Lenoir-Rhyne the lead.
The Wingate offense was limited to six shots on the night. The lone shot on goal came from
Pablo Bianchi (Santiago, Chile) in the 87th minute. Senior
Jon Ander (Bilbao, Spain) had a chance in the box a minute later, but his shot went just wide of the left post.
Lenoir-Rhyne outshot the Bulldogs 18-6 on the night, holding a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Zach King had a save to preserve the shutout, while junior
Pablo Jara (Santiago, Chile) collected three saves for Wingate.
The Bulldogs are back in action next Saturday, traveling to Tusculum for a 7:30 p.m. start. A victory would give Wingate its fourth straight regular season SAC title.
