Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University post players
Marta Miscenko and
Danasia Witherspoon combined for 43 points, 26 rebounds and eight assists as the number 14 Bulldogs earned a 69-58 NCAA Division II women's basketball victory over Georgia College Friday night in Cuddy Arena.
Miscenko had 27 points, 14 rebounds, six blocked shots and four assists, while Witherspoon posted 16 points, 12 boards and four assists.
Courtney Robinson added 15 points for the Navy Blue and Vegas Gold-clad Bulldogs. Wingate and Georgia College will see action Saturday, as the Bulldogs face Clayton State at 4 p.m. and the GC Bobcats play Anderson at 2 p.m.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
Robinson and Miscenko had nine points and seven points, respectively, as Wingate led 19-14 after the opening 10 minutes. Miscenko's old-fashioned three-point play gave the Bulldogs the lead for good (17-14) with 90 seconds left in the frame.
Second Quarter
An inside hoop by Miscenko gave Wingate a 25-19 lead at the 6:41 mark.
Caroline Averette hit Wingate's only three-point field goal of the night to put the hosts up 35-28 with one minute left. Georgia College's 6-2 forward
Erin Drynan kept things close with her nine second-quarter points.
Third Quarter
Miscenko scored a lay-up from a Witherspoon dish to put Wingate up 45-34 with three minutes gone in the stanza. Miscenko had a game-high eight points in the third.
Fourth Quarter
Miscenko gave Wingate a 58-46 lead at the 8:23 mark. Five minutes later, another Miscenko hoop put the Bulldogs up 65-51.
TURNING POINTS
Wingate made eight field goals in the third, compared to only four for Georgia College. The Bulldogs shot 76.2 percent (16-of-21) from the free throw line.
NOTABLES
-Five Georgia College players scored 10-12 points, led by Drynan and her 12 markers.
-The Bobcats made only eight turnovers, compared to 15 for the Bulldogs.
