Wingate, N.C.----The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team scored 11 of the first 12 goals on the way to a 13-4 NCAA Division II victory over
Wingate University Wednesday afternoon at Graham Gill Field. Sophomore midfielder
Ciara Burud (Red Hook, N.Y.) led the Oilers with four goals.

Brie Caruso (Salisbury, Md.) added three goals and one assist to match Burud in the point column. For Wingate, sophomore attack
Kendall Wells (Elkridge, Md.) had three goals to give her 20 scores for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
Findlay took an early 2-0 lead with two goals in the first 2:13 of action. Oiler junior midfielder
Emma Spellman (Milton, Del.) found the back of the nets at the 27:58 mark. Eleven seconds later, Burud scored her first goal on an assist from Caruso.
Wingate freshman midfielder
Ellie Gottschalk (Bel Air, Md.) cut the deficit in half with a free position goal at the 21:53 mark. Findlay responded in a big way, scoring six unanswered goals to conclude the first half. Burud had four of her four goals in the first half.
Second Half
Caruso sandwiched two goals around a Kelly goal as Findlay opened the second half with three unanswered scores. Wells scored twice (17:37, 13:37) on assists from sophomore attack
Joanna King (Lancaster, Pa.) and senior attack
Madison LaBarbera (Colchester, Conn.) to pull the hosts within eight goals at 11-3. Wells tallied her final goal at the 4:36 mark on an assist from sophomore midfielder
Casey Roux (Rochester, N.Y.).

Findlay's 9-0 run spanning both halves was too much for the hosts to overcome.

Morgan Insel ('17) played four years for the Bulldogs. The All-SAC performer played in every single game in her four years, which were also the first four years of Wingate women's lacrosse.
