Wingate, N.C.----The 14th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs rolled through doubles play Wednesday afternoon, building a 3-0 lead en route to a 7-2 victory over No. 27 Newberry College in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis action. Wingate improves to 15-5 overall and 8-1 in the SAC, while the Wolves fall to 17-6 overall and 6-3 in league play.

Matthew Jones (Shrewsbury, United Kingdom) and
Josep Canyadell (Lleida, Spain) prevailed 8-5 at three doubles to put the Bulldogs on top 3-0 heading to singles play.
Belsito, ranked 17th nationally, won 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 at number one doubles, moving to 16-2 on the season and 9-0 in SAC play, with every match coming at one singles. Canyadell prevailed 6-4, 6-3 at number three singles, while DuToit rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 victory at five singles. Sophomore
Tamir Geva (Jerusalem, Israel) capped the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win at six singles.
The Bulldogs are back in action Saturday, traveling to Mars Hill for a 1 p.m. match to wrap up the regular season. A victory would guarantee at least a tie for the regular season SAC title.
