Bulldogs ride stifling defense to 3-1 victory over Trojans

Wingate, N.C.----In a battle of the top two offenses in the South Atlantic Conference, it was the nation's top-ranked defense that stole the show, with Wingate University holding visiting Anderson to a season-low hitting percentage of .024 in a 3-1 victory in SAC volleyball action Friday night in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 26-24, 24-26, 25-19 and 25-13 in the battle of the final two teams without a loss in league play to move to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the SAC. Anderson falls to 16-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.

"Obviously this was a very significant win for us. Hannah Givens had a career match, Kori Adams was exceptional in the back court and Phoebe Havenaar was awesome once again. It was tough sustaining another injury with Lynnlee Mather going out, but it was rewarding to see us play a lineup combination we have not used all year and find a way to pull off an important win."
