VIDEO | Emarius Logan's game-winner

Jefferson City, Tenn.----Wingate University senior guard Emarius Logan hit the game-winning jump shot in the final second Saturday afternoon, giving the Bulldogs a 76-74 victory at Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate completes the season sweep over Carson-Newman, improving to 11-8 overall and 7-4 in the SAC. The Eagles fall to 10-9 overall and 3-8 in league play.

"It was an honor to stand in the gap for Coach Good today. Our guys really wanted to win this one for him. We came out in the second half after giving up a big lead and I felt we responded. We battled the entire second half and ended it on an acrobatic shot by Emarius."  

KEY STATS

- Wingate shot 42 percent from the field, hitting 13-of-33 shots from three-point range (39 percent)
- CN shot 46 percent from the field, connecting on 11-of-24 from beyond the arc (46 percent)
- The Eagles held a 34-26 rebounding advantage and 9-6 edge in second-chance points

FIRST HALF

- The Bulldogs came out on fire, jumping out to a 20-3 lead six minutes in
- Haskins had eight points in the early flurry, with Johnson adding six points
- Cameron Andre's bucket at the 10:40 mark got the Eagles within nine
- Another Haskins triple gave the 'Dogs a 26-14 lead midway through the half
- Brendan Coleman's three got CN within five at the 8:20 mark
- Jarren Cottingham answered with a three to push the lead back to eight with eight minutes left
- Coleman's layup got the Eagles within three at 34-31 with five minutes to go
- Taylor's bucket at the 2:21 mark put WU on top by five
- Coleman's dunk made it a one-point game with 1:40 remaining in the half
- Johnson's three pushed the lead back to four, but a Parker Role' dunk tied it at 41 heading to halftime

SECOND HALF

- A Dylan Robertson three-point play gave Wingate a four-point lead four minutes into the second half
- Two Mason Bates free throws got Carson-Newman within one at the 12:13 mark
- Blake Ervin knocked down a triple to give the Eagles a 55-53 lead midway through the half
- A Logan jumper and Haskins three put the Bulldogs back on top with eight minutes to go
- Another Ervin three gave CN a 63-60 advantage at the 6:48 mark
- Haskins answered with a triple and a jumper, while a Johnson three gave WU a 68-67 lead with 5:20 remaining
- Logan buried a three with 4:34 to go to give the 'Dogs a four-point advantage
- A Malik Abraham triple got CN within one, but a Logan bucket made it 73-70 at the 1:55 mark
- Taylor's free throw with 53 seconds left gave the Bulldogs a 74-72 advantage
- A Bates layup tied it at 74 with 43 seconds remaining
- Wingate missed a chance to take a lead, but a CN turnover gave the 'Dogs the ball with seven second left
- Logan knocked down a running 20-footer from the top of the key in the final second to give Wingate the win
