Box Score Mars Hill, N.C.----Marco Haskins and Jakob Dawkins combined for 44 points Saturday afternoon, leading the Wingate University Bulldogs to an 84-76 victory at Mars Hill University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action. Wingate wins its fifth straight, improving to 9-5 overall and 5-1 in the SAC. The Lions fall to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in league play.

- Matthew Powell's bucket with six minutes left gave the Lions a 28-25 advantage
- A Haskins three put Wingate back on top, but two Austin Stone free throws gave MHU a 39-35 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- Powell's jumper in the opening minute of the second half put Mars Hill on top by eight
- Wingate answered with a 10-3 run, with a Dawkins layup getting the 'Dogs within one at 46-45
- A Joshua Strozier layup and Hovasse three put WU on top 58-52 at the 12:13 mark
- Reggie Wright's layup got Mars Hill within four, but layups from Strozier and Logan made it 64-56
- A Logan layup and Haskins jumper put the Bulldogs on top 70-61 with eight minutes to go
- Dotson Griffin's layup got the Lions within three at the 6:35 mark, while Chris Barnette's layup made it a one-point game
- Johnson answered with a big three at the 4:38 mark to push the lead back to four
- A JaShawn Brooks dunk at the 2:32 mark got MHU back within a point
- Haskins answered with a four-point play, while a Dawkins three at the 1:44 mark made it 82-76
- Mars Hill would get no closer the rest of the way
