Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs swept their seventh straight doubleheader Wednesday afternoon, picking up a pair of victories over the University of Mount Olive in NCAA Division II softball action. Wingate won the opener 3-1 while cruising to a 9-0 victory in game two to move to 14-2 on the season. The Trojans fall to 8-8 overall.

GAME ONE | Wingate 3 Mount Olive 1

KEY STATS

- The Bulldogs had the lone extra-base hit in the game
- The Trojans left six on base; the 'Dogs stranded three

- Emma Swenson was two-for-two with a run scored

- The Bulldogs got on the board after four scoreless frames
- With two out and nobody on base, Swenson, Loney and Cashwell strung together three straight singles
- Sapp ripped a three-run triple to center, clearing the bases to make it 3-0

- With two outs and nobody on, a walk and two singles loaded the bases for Mount Olive
- An RBI single from Heather Childress got the Trojans on the board
- Weidner induced the game-ending groundout to end it

WRAPUP

- Weidner got the win to move to 8-1 on the year
- She allowed a run on five hits in seven innings, striking out nine and walking two
- The senior has won eight straight games and is the SAC leader in wins

- Wingate had three extra-base hits; all three were homers
- The 'Dogs stranded five while UMO left three on base
- The Bulldogs struck out eight and walked one; UMO had two strikeouts and two walks

- Swenson was three-for-three with a homer, four RBI and two runs scored
- Loney was two-for-three with a homer and two RBI
- Jordan Floyd also homered, scoring a pair of runs
- Mary Claire Coyne went two-for-three with a run scored

- Reep tossed a one-hit shutout, striking out eight

- Floyd got Wingate on the board in the second with her second homer of the season to make it 1-0

- Singles from Coyne and Sells, along with a Mount Olive error loaded the bases for Swenson
- The junior blasted a towering grand slam down the left field line to give the 'Dogs a five-run lead

FOURTH INNING

- Singles from Cashwell and Coyne along with a walk to Sapp loaded the bases
- Sacrifice flies from Reep and Sells made it 7-0

FIFTH INNING

- Swenson reached on a one-out single
- Loney connected on her second homer in as many days, a two-run shot to left center to end it

WRAPUP

- Reep got the win to move to 6-1 on the year
- She followed up Tuesday's no-hitter with a one-hit shutout, striking out eight
- The junior did not allow a hit until a fourth-inning single
- Haley Brogden took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings
