Wingate pushes winning streak to 14 with doubleheader sweep over Trojans

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs swept their seventh straight doubleheader Wednesday afternoon, picking up a pair of victories over the University of Mount Olive in NCAA Division II softball action. Wingate won the opener 3-1 while cruising to a 9-0 victory in game two to move to 14-2 on the season. The Trojans fall to 8-8 overall.

- The Bulldogs had the lone extra-base hit in the game
- The Trojans left six on base; the 'Dogs stranded three

- Naomi Sapp had a triple and three RBI to lead the offense
- Emma Swenson was two-for-two with a run scored

- She followed up Tuesday's no-hitter with a one-hit shutout, striking out eight
- The junior did not allow a hit until a fourth-inning single
- Haley Brogden took the loss, allowing five runs on six hits in 2 2/3 innings
