Melbourne, Fla.----Wingate University senior infielder Tyler Schneider blasted a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning Friday night, giving the Bulldogs a thrilling 7-6 victory at Florida Tech in NCAA Division II baseball action. Wingate lost the first game of the day 3-1 against Valdosta State. The Bulldogs move to 5-2 on the season 

GAME ONE | Valdosta State 3 Wingate 1

- Valdosta State out-hit Wingate 11-4
- VSU pitchers had 15 strikeouts and just two walks
- Wingate pitching registered seven strikeouts and one walk
- The Bulldogs had two of the three errors on the day
- The Blazers left 10 on base, the 'Dogs stranded six
- VSU had three of the four extra-base hits

- Schneider went one-for-four with an RBI
- Tanner Forry was one-for-three with a run scored
- Andrew Llewellyn had a double for the Bulldogs
- McCann Mellett was one-for-three
- Austin Turgeon allowed just two runs in 7 2/3 innings

FIRST INNING

- Wingate got on the board first in the top of the first
- Forry was hit by a pitch with two outs, then stole second
- He scored on Schneider's two-out RBI single to make it 1-0
- That was all of the scoring until the eighth inning

EIGHTH INNING

- Mack Hathcock led off the frame with a double
- After a groundout and strikeout, Aaron Haughton came to the plate with two outs and a runner on third
- He gave the Blazers a 2-1 lead with a two-run shot

NINTH INNING

- Jowenrick Daantji's RBI single plated Parker Stephens to give VSU a 3-1 advantage

WRAP UP

- Cooper Cain got the win to move to 1-0 on the year
- He allowed a run on two hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out 13 and walking two
- Travis Eubanks notched his third save of the year, striking out two in 1 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit
- Turgeon took the loss, falling to 1-1
- He allowed two runs on nine hits, striking out four and walking one

- Bryant's second homer of the week made it 4-1
- The Panthers scored three times in the bottom of the frame to tie it
- A bases-loaded wild pitch, followed by back-to-back sacrifice flies made it 4-4

SIXTH INNING

- Clark lined a one-out single to right, then scored on Daniel's infield single to put WU on top 5-4
- Raul Quintero's RBI double and a Dylan Owens RBI single gave Florida Tech a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the frame

NINTH INNING

- Daniel led off the inning with his fourth hit of the night, a single to left
- After a fielder's choice, Schneider came to the plate with a runner on first and one out, trailing 6-5
- The senior delivered a two-run homer to put Wingate on top 7-6

WRAP UP

- Wildman struck out two in the ninth to move to 1-0 on the season
- The senior did not allow a hit in 1 1/3 innings of work
- Justin Lorenz took the loss, allowing four runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings of work
