Taylor’s buzzer-beater gives Lincoln Memorial 67-64 victory at Wingate

Wingate, N.C.----Lincoln Memorial guard Cornelius Taylor knocked down a three from the corner as time expired Saturday evening, giving the Railsplitters a 67-64 victory at Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action in Cuddy Arena. LMU improves to 16-6 overall and 11-4 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 13-10 overall and 9-6 in league play.

KEY STATS

- LMU shot 40 percent from the field, hitting 13-of-38 shots from three-point range (34 percent)
- Wingate shot 31 percent from the field, hitting seven-of-26 shots from beyond the arc (27 percent)

FIRST HALF

- Kamaran Calhoun's bucket at the 4:44 mark gave Lincoln Memorial a five-point lead
- A layup and dunk from Taylor, followed by buckets from Logan and Dawkins put WU on top 22-19 at with two minutes left
- Steven Perriere gave LMU a one-point lead, but Logan's jumper in the final seconds gave the 'Dogs a 24-23 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- A three-point play from Anthony Brown gave LMU a 30-24 lead three minutes into the second half
- Threes from Logan, Haskins and Dawkins got the 'Dogs within one at the 15:44 mark
- A Haskins jumper and Taylor layup gave WU a 44-40 advantage with 12 minutes to go
- Haskins knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 47-41 at the 9:33 mark
- LMU used an 8-0 run, taking a 49-47 lead on a Taylor three with 8:05 remaining
- Johnsons' three put Wingate back on top by two with seven minutes to go
- A pair of threes from Cameron Henry made it 58-53 with two minutes left
- Another Henry three made it 64-58 with 54 seconds to go
- Logan's three-point play cut the lead in half
- Dawkins drew a charge, giving Wingate the ball with 16 seconds left
- Johnson was fouled on a three and knocked down all three free throws to tie it with six seconds left
- Taylor drilled the corner three as the buzzer sounded off an assist from Brown
