Mars Hill, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs swept a doubleheader at Mars Hill University Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference baseball action, pushing their winning streak to seven while also winning their seventh straight league game. Wingate won the opener 8-5, while prevailing 6-5 in game two to improve to 22-9 overall and 9-3 in the SAC. The Lions fall to 12-18 overall and 2-12 in league play.

GAME ONE | Wingate 8 Mars Hill 5

- Wingate out-hit Mars Hill 12-9 in game one
- The 'Dogs had five of the eight extra-base hits including all three homers
- The Bulldogs left 10 on base; the Lions stranded seven
- MHU committed three errors; WU had a pair of errors
- Wingate pitchers struck out eight and walked three; MHU had 12 strikeouts and five walks

- Andrew Llewellyn had a homer and three RBI to lead the offense

- A single, double and walk loaded the bases with no outs for the Lions
- Cody Cline's sacrifice fly tied it
- Brett Brubaker followed with a two-run single to put Mars Hill on top 4-2

SIXTH INNING

- Austin Purser ripped a one-out double to left
- He scored on a Wingate error to give the Lions a 5-2 advantage

EIGHTH INNING

- A walk, Dula single and MHU error loaded the bases with one out for the Bulldogs
- Guy's two-run single got Wingate within a run
- Little followed with a sacrifice fly to tie it at five

NINTH INNING

- Bryant led off the frame with a triple, while McNeely drew a walk
- Llewellyn came in as a pinch-hitter with runners on the corners and one out
- The senior delivered a three-run shot down the left field line to give WU an 8-5 lead
- Second homer of the series and fifth of the year for Llewellyn

WRAPUP

- McCullough got the win to move to 2-0 on the year
- The freshman allowed one hit in two shutout innings, striking out one without walking a batter
- Dula worked a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout to earn his fourth save
- Luke Kimrey took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits in an inning, falling to 1-2

- Bryant followed with his league-best 13th homer of the year, a three-run shot to left to give WU a 5-3 lead
- Bryant has homered in each of Wingate's last four games

SIXTH INNING

- Two walks and a double loaded the bases with no outs for the Lions
- A hit batsman got MHU within one; Jordan Lathe's sacrifice fly tied it
- Dula came in and got a strikeout to leave the bases loaded with the game tied

SEVENTH INNING

- Bryant started a two-out rally with a single, then went to second when Schneider was hit by a pitch
- Llewellyn followed with the go-ahead RBI double to left center, plating Bryant to give Wingate a 6-5 lead
- Dula retired the side in order in the bottom of the frame

WRAPUP

- Dula got the win to move to 1-0 on the year in addition to his four saves
- He retired all four batters he faced, striking out one
- Dula has not allowed a run in his last 11 outings, lowering his ERA to 1.26 on the year
- Austin Marler took the loss, allowing a run on two hits in two-thirds of an inning
