Greenwood, S.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs picked up their second doubleheader sweep in as many days Sunday afternoon, taking two at Lander University in NCAA Division II softball action. Wingate won the opener 8-6, while prevailing 5-4 in game two for its sixth straight victory and third sweep of the week. The 'Dogs improve to 23-8 overall, while the Bearcats fall to 16-14 on the season. Wingate has piled up 71 runs over its last eight games.

GAME ONE | Wingate 8 Lander 6

- Sapp singled, moved to second on a passed ball, then scored on Coyne's RBI single to make it 5-0
- Reep followed with an RBI double to center to push the lead to six
- Loney capped the scoring in the frame with a two-run double to left, making it 8-0
- An RBI single from Sydney Grimes got Lander on the board in the bottom of the frame

FIFTH INNING

- Brianna Surrento got the Bearcats within six by starting the frame with a solo shot

SEVENTH INNING

- Lander made it interesting with four runs in the bottom of the seventh
- An RBI single from Kasey Rogers made it a four-run game
- Grimes followed with an RBI single, while a bases-loaded hit batsman made it 8-6
- Weidner entered the game to record the final out, preserving the win

WRAPUP

- Reep got the win, moving to 11-3 on the year
- She allowed two earned runs in 6 2/3 innings, striking out four and walking four
- Weidner picked up her first save of the season
- Ashley Vinson took the loss, falling to 6-7
- She allowed four runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings, striking out one and walking one

- A walk, single and hit batsman loaded the bases with one out
- After a popout, Kelli McCormack got the Bearcats on the board with a three-run double
- Morgan Watson followed with an RBI single to make it 5-4
- After a single, Weidner escaped the jam by inducing the game-ending foulout

WRAPUP

- Weidner got the win to move to 12-4 on the year
- She allowed four runs on eight hits in seven innings, striking out two and walking two
- Abby Killian took the loss, falling to 9-5
- She allowed five runs on nine hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking one
