Bulldogs pile up 24 runs in doubleheader sweep over Golden Eagles

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University rolled to a pair of victories Saturday afternoon, putting up 24 runs on 21 hits against visiting Charleston (W. Va.) in NCAA Division II baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate won the opener 10-4, while prevailing 14-7 in game two to improve to 13-8 overall. The Golden Eagles fall to 4-6 on the season.

- Mellett scored on a wild pitch, while Bryant's sacrifice fly made it 9-2
- Forry scored the 10th run of the game on a balk

WRAPUP

- Turgeon got the win, moving to 4-1 on the year
- The senior struck out five and walked just one in seven innings, throwing 118 pitches

- McCollum moves to 2-1 on the year, allowing two runs in two innings while striking out four

- Sawyer Lee retired both batters he faced in the sixth
- Lane Wildman worked a scoreless seventh inning
- Austin Henrich took the loss, falling to 1-2
