Wingate, N.C.---Wingate University freshman guard Hannah Clark hit a jumper with eight seconds left, lifting the Bulldogs to a come-from-behind 63-61 South Atlantic Conference women's basketball victory over UVA Wise Saturday in Cuddy Arena. Wingate is 11-4 overall and 4-2 in league action, while the brand-new SAC member Cavaliers fall to 7-7 overall and 3-5 in the SAC.

"I am really proud of the effort to rally in the fourth quarter. In some other recent games, we did not respond well when we were down. Teliyah Jeter made some huge plays, as did Hannah Clark; however, it was a total team effort. There are lots of things we can learn from the game, but there is always more to learn from a close win than the other way around." 
 
KEY STATS

- Wingate took 19 shots in the pivotal fourth quarter, compared to seven for UVA Wise
- The Bulldogs converted eight of their 19 fourth-quarter tries (42.1 percent)
- On the afternoon, Wingate made 37.3 percent of its field goals

FIRST QUARTER

- The Cavs finished the frame on a 6-0 run to take an 18-9 lead

SECOND QUARTER

- A Webb jumper gave UVA Wise a 29-18 lead with 2:32 left
- Hurley had both of her two field goals in the second stanza
- The two teams traded three-point field goals in the final minute to complete the half
- The Cavs made a triple with 57 seconds left to go up 32-20
- UVA Wise made three of its seven three-pointers in the second quarter
- The 12-point margin was the visitors' biggest lead of the half
- Clark made a three-pointer 20 seconds later to pull the 'Dogs within 32-23 at the break
 
THIRD QUARTER

- Clark hit a triple to pull Wingate with five (39-34) midway through the quarter
- A three-point play by Nia Vanzant gave UVA Wise a 47-34 lead at the 3:57 mark
- The 13-point advantage was the Cavaliers' largest lead Saturday
- A Jeter lay-up brought the hosts within nine (47-38) at the 3:09 plateau
- Vanzant and Wingate's Jaxson Douglas traded baskets
- After the Douglas hoop at 2:14, the 'Dogs would not make another field goal

- UVA Wise would not score another field goal for four minutes as Wingate made its move
- A Jeter basket (4:52) and two free throws (4:12) pulled the hosts within three (59-56)
