Wingate, N.C.----The visiting UVA Wise Crusaders shot 53 percent from the field en route to a 92-82 victory at Wingate University in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Cuddy Arena Wednesday night. The Cavs improve to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the SAC, while the Bulldogs fall to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in league play.

- UVA Wise shot 53 percent from the field; Wingate shot 32 percent on the night
- UVA Wise went nine-for-21 from three-point range (49 percent)

- Jaia Wilson registered 11 points, four boards, three assists and two steals

FIRST QUARTER

- A Caitlyn Ross jumper gave the Cavs an 11-4 lead less than three minutes in
- Troutman's layup pulled Wingate within five at the midway point
- Meg Crawford's bucket put UVA Wise on top 20-12 with 2:54 to go
- Four Troutman free throws in the final 24 seconds got Wingate within three at 23-20

SECOND QUARTER

- A Nia Vanzant layup and Ross three-point play put the Cavaliers on top 31-22 at the 7:45 mark
- Haleigh Hatfield's layup pulled the 'Dogs within five with 5:50 remaining in the half
- UVA Wise answered with a 10-0 run, taking a 41-26 lead on a Mackenzie King three at the 2:06 mark
- Wingate score the final seven points of the half, getting a Troutman three and two free throws to make it 41-33

THIRD QUARTER

- Johnson's free throws in the opening minute pushed the UVA Wise lead back to 10
- The 'Dogs scored 10 of the next 12, with layups from Hatfield and Hannah Clark pulling WU within two
- Two Ross free throws put the Cavs up by eight, but a Troutman layup made it 53-48 at the midway point
- Wise closed the frame on a 17-4 run, with a Crawford layup at the buzzer making it 70-52

FOURTH QUARTER

- The Cavs used a 15-4 run to push the lead to 28 at 87-59 with 4:26 remaining
- Wingate closed the game on an 11-0 run, getting four Wilson free throws and a Mikayla Dyson triple
