Hickory, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Lenoir-Rhyne University 31-16 in the second half Saturday afternoon, picking up a 54-44 road victory in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action in Shuford Memorial Gym. The Bulldogs improve to 13-8 overall and 7-7 in league action, while the Bears falls to 8-12 overall and 6-8 in the SAC.

- Wingate shot 30 percent from the field on the afternoon, Lenoir-Rhyne shot 29 percent
- The Bulldogs shot 33 percent (four-for-12) from three-point range, The Bears shot 15 percent from beyond the arc (three-for-20)

FIRST QUARTER

- The Bears jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the opening two minutes

- With 3:31 to go a Hanna McClung layup gave LR a 9-5 lead
- Troutman hit a three with 31 seconds remaining to make it 11-8
- The Bears answered with Kennedy Weight three in the final seconds of the quarter to lead by six at the end of the first

SECOND QUARTER

- In the opening minute of the second frame the teams traded buckets
- LR then pushed their lead to 12 with a jumper from Karlie Bearden at the 7:39 mark
- Wingate answered with a 12-0 run spanning four minutes of action
- Douglas capped the flurry with a three with 3:41 left on the clock
- The Bears ended the quarter on a 6-1 run going into half leading 28-23

THIRD QUARTER

- Wingate got an Ingram jumper to start the half
- With 5:41 on the clock a Douglas three tied the game at 28-28
- Wingate's first lead of the game came with 3:49 remaining on a Clark layup
- Coleman made a pair from the charity stripe to make it 34-30 a minute later
- A Douglas three and Ingram jumper pushed the Bulldog lead to seven with just under a minute to play in the quarter
- The frame was capped with a Ingram free throw with three seconds remaining

FOURTH QUARTER

- A Maeola Willis layup pushed Wingate's lead to 42-34 to start the final frame
- By the 8:21 mark Ashley Woodroffe's back-to-back layups cut the lead to six
- With six minutes to go a Jeter layup made it 46-38
- At the midway point a pair of Clark free throws extended the Bulldog advantage to double digits
- LR would get a Laney Fox three and jumper from Bearden to make it a five-point game with 2:15 to play
- WU answered with a Jeter bucket and a pair of Douglas free throws to make it 52-43 with 40 seconds remaining
- The Bears made a free throw with 26 second to go making it an eight-point game, they would get no closer
- The game was capped by a pair of Clark free throws
