Charlotte, N.C.---The Wingate University Bulldogs outscored Queens University 16-2 in the second quarter Wednesday night en route to a 56-44 road victory in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball in Curry Arena. The Bulldogs improve to 16-12 overall and 10-11 in league action, while the Royals falls to 5-22 overall and 4-17 in the SAC.
KEY STATS
- Wingate shot 43 percent from the field on the afternoon, Queens shot 38 percent
- The Bulldogs shot 30 percent (three-for-10) from three-point range, the Royals also shot 30 percent from beyond the arc (six-for-20)
- WU pulled down 31 rebounds, while QU collected 30
- The Bulldogs held a dominant 32-20 advantage in points in the paint

- A Queens layup from Kristian Eanes tied the game at 17-17
- That was the only points Wingate conceded in the second quarter
- The Bulldogs finished the frame on a 9-0 run
- A Clark three made it 20-17 with 7:14 to go
- The 'Dogs got a Jeter layup and a pair of Ingram free throw to push the lead to seven
- The scoring was capped by a Jeter bucket with eight seconds left in the half
THIRD QUARTER
- A Troutman layup at the eight-minute mark gave Wingate the 30-17 lead

- At the two-minute mark a Jeter layup made it 52-41
- The Royals' final field goal of the game was a Kelsey Leedle three
- Wingate iced it at the line getting free throws from Jeter and Clark in the final 90 seconds of action
