Salisbury, N.C.----Wingate University senior outfielder
Jessica VonCannon homered in each game Wednesday afternoon, while classmate
Aubrey Reep turned in another dominant performance in the circle and at the plate as the Bulldogs opened league play with a doubleheader sweep at Catawba College in South Atlantic Conference softball action. Wingate won the opener 3-2, while prevailing 7-2 in the second game to improve to 11-7 overall and 2-0 in the SAC, winning 11 of its last 12 games. Catawba falls to 8-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.
THOUGHTS FROM JAMIE STANCLIFT
"Any time you can go earn a road sweep is fantastic, but opening up conference play that way is even better. I thought we made better adjustments at the plate in game two and played sound defense. Jess sparked our offense with a couple of big home runs and we are seeing the ball really well right now."
