UPDATED MARCH 10, 2021
Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University athletic department has announced an updated attendance policy starting in mid-March for the spring 2021 seasons. The Bulldogs have 15 sports in play at this time. Fans will be allowed at home spring sporting events, with strict rules and guidelines in place in accordance with the state of North Carolina Covid guidelines.
Attendance will be limited during the 2021 spring seasons. Family members will be permitted to attend contests by being placed on their student-athletes pass list. Every athlete will have an opportunity to complete their pass list for each game on Monday of that week. The amount of fans allowed at each venue will depend on the capacity of the venue. A select amount of students will be allowed at events by signing up through the athletic department. Emails will be sent to all students with instructions on how to request tickets, while a follow-up email will be sent when the ticket request is approved. Football will allow cheerleading parents, team signees and guests of the President, in addition to guests of the student-athletes and 100 students.
VISITING FANS OR PARENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED AT THIS TIME.
With North Carolina's new standards, the University has determined the new capacities to its venues. Volleyball and Football will not be filled to allowable capacities at this time, but the University will monitor these numbers each week and act accordingly. A maximum of 600 fans will be allowed for football, 111 for men's and women's lacrosse and men's and women's track, 190 for baseball, 100 at tennis and 125 at men's and women's soccer. The maximum at softball will remain at 75.
Only people on the pass list will be permitted at games. All fans in attendance must observe social distancing at contests and are required to wear face coverings at all times. In addition, any gatherings or tailgates with fans, either pregame or post-game, will not be permitted. Also, in accordance with University policies, any family members attending games are not permitted in other University facilities, including residence halls.
These will be the guidelines as the sports seasons begin. These rules and guidelines are subject to change depending on progress being made against the Covid-19 pandemic as well as state guideline updates.
Wingate University will provide live stats for every home football, lacrosse, softball, baseball, volleyball and soccer contest this year. In addition, a free live video broadcast will be available for nearly every home contest. Full schedules are available for each team at
