Davis and Troutman lead Bulldogs to 66-61 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne

Hickory, N.C.----Wingate University freshman guard Peyton Davis and sophomore forward Bryanna Troutman combined for 34 points Wednesday night, leading the Bulldogs to a 66-61 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne University in South Atlantic Conference women's basketball action. Wingate improves to 4-5 overall and 4-4 in the SAC, while the Bears fall to 1-7 overall and 1-7 in league play.

SECOND QUARTER

- Davis's layup gave Wingate a 14-8 lead in the opening minute
- LR used a 10-2 run to take the lead, getting a Nakia Hooks layup to make it 21-18 with 3:46 left
- Two Hatfield free throws pulled the Bulldogs within one
- The Bears scored the next eight points, taking a 28-20 lead on an Emily Harman three
- Troutman's layup with 23 seconds left pulled WU within six at halftime

THIRD QUARTER

- A Harman layup with 4:38 remaining gave Lenoir-Rhyne a 58-55 advantage
- Wilson knocked down a triple a minute later to put Wingate on top 59-58
- Alyssa Wagner answered with a three to put the Bears on top by two with 2:25 left
- The Bulldogs scored the last seven points of the game
- A Hatfield free throw and two Coleman free throws gave Wingate a 62-61 lead with 55 seconds left
- Davis knocked down two free throws with 24 seconds to go to push the advantage to three
- Wilson's two free throws in the final seconds iced the game for the Bulldogs
