‘Dogs ride stifling defense to pick up huge regional sweep over Flagler

Wingate, N.C.----One of the nation's top-rated defenses was on full display Saturday afternoon, as the Wingate University Bulldogs held visiting Flagler College to a .000 hitting percentage en route to an impressive 3-0 victory in NCAA Division II Southeast Regional volleyball action in Cuddy Arena. Wingate won by scores of 25-22, 25-19 and 25-14 to improve to 18-3 overall. Flagler sees its 18-match winning streak come to an end, falling to 18-4 on the season.

- A Blackley kill and Maggie Mullen ace highlighted a 3-0 run that gave Wingate a 21-19 lead
- Kills from Sutphin and Young made it 23-21, but a Logan Garcia kill cut the lead back to one
- Kasprak's kill made it 24-22; Schaff and Kasprak teamed for a block to end the frame

- The 'Dogs scored the final five points of the set to end the match
- A kill and a block from Schaff made it 22-14, while another Schaff kill made it 24-14
- Schaff and Kasprak teamed for a block to end the match
- Kasprak, Young and Schaff had three blocks apiece in the final frame; Lambillotte added two
