Balanced Bulldogs pick up 79-75 victory at USC Aiken

Aiken, S.C.----Andreas Wilson led five Bulldogs in double figures with 18 points Monday night, leading Wingate University to a 79-75 victory at USC Aiken in NCAA Division II men's basketball action. Wingate improves to 5-2 overall, while the Pacers fall to 3-3 on the season. The Bulldogs had seven different players score at least eight points Monday night.

- A Preston Parks layup pulled USCA within one, but another Wilson three made it 17-13
- Wilson's three at the 11:11 mark put the Bulldogs on top 20-14
- Parks hit a three to pull USC Aiken back within a point at the 8:30 mark
- Cottingham answered with a three to push the lead back to four
- Aiken used a 10-0 run to take a 32-26 lead on a David Strother layup with 5:03 to go
- Nixon's triple highlighted a 7-0 run that put the 'Dogs back on top at the 2:49 mark
- A Roberts jumper with a minute left gave Wingate a 35-34 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- A pair of Elmore threes gave Wingate a 51-48 advantage six minutes into the second half
- Aiken countered with a 9-0 run, taking a 57-51 lead on a Jalen McCoy bucket with 11:49 left
- Threes from Pringle and Nixon pulled Wingate back within two at the 8:36 mark
- Wilson's sixth three of the game made it a one-point game
- Pringles three with five minutes left tied it at 67
- WU went on a 6-0 run in a two-minute span to go on top 73-67
- Pringle started it with two free throws; Taylor capped it with a jumper and a dunk with 3:02 left
- A LaTreavin Black tip-in with 2:24 left made it a two-point game
- Taylor answered with another bucket to push the lead back to four
- Tyler Johnson's layup with 1:17 to go pulled the Pacers back within two
- Cottingham knocked down a pair of free throws with 25 seconds left to make it 77-73
- Strother's layup six seconds later cut the lead back to two
- Pringle's two free throws with 17 seconds remaining made it 79-75

- Wingate plays its third game in five days Wednesday, returning home to host Limestone
