Wingate indoor track and field teams compete in GVSU Holiday Open

Allendale, Mich.----The Wingate University men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened the 2021-22 campaign Friday, competing in the Grand Valley State Holiday Open in the Kelly Family Sports Center. The Bulldog men finished eighth out of 22 teams, while the Wingate women claimed 14th place out of 19 teams.
 
Men's notes
- Darius Weathers won the triple jump with a mark of 14.54 meters
- Weathers finished sixth in the long jump, thanks to his leap of 6.55 meters
- Tai Smith ran a 14:38.13 in the 5000 meters
- Tanaka Nzombe cleared 1.89 meters to finish tied for sixth in the high jump
- Jakob Rettschlag ran an 8:31.39 in the 3000 meters
 
Women's notes
- Zoe Brickley finished second in her 3000 meters event with a time of 10:27.42
- Ennessey Sorrells earned a fifth-place showing in the triple jump, thanks to her mark of 10.83 meters
- Gemma Rebollo ran a 17:00.61 in the 5000 meters
- Valerie Daehler cleared 1.59 meters in the high jump
