Dahlonega, Ga.----The second-ranked University of North Georgia Nighthawks moved to 10-0 on the season, sweeping a doubleheader against visiting Wingate University in NCAA Division II softball action Sunday afternoon. Wingate falls to 5-7 on the season.

GAME ONE | #2 North Georgia 6 Wingate 1

KEY STATS

- North Georgia out-hit Wingate 8-7 in game one
- The Nighthawks had four of the six extra-base hits including both homers
- The Bulldogs left seven on base; UNG stranded four
- UNG committed the only error in game one
- The Nighthawks struck out six and walked two; WU had 10 strikeouts and no walks
- North Georgia had the only two stolen bases in the contest

KEY BULLDOGS

- Raelynn Kramer went one-for-three with an RBI to lead the WU offense
- Gracyn Polk was two-for-three with a double and a run scored

- The Nighthawks got on the board on an RBI groundout from Anthony

FOURTH INNING

- Two-run homers from Shelby Hammontre and Cheyanne Mosteller gave the Nighthawks a 5-0 lead

FIFTH INNING

- Polk started the top of the fifth with a double
- Kramer's RBI single plated Polk to get Wingate on the board
- An RBI single from Margaret Simmons in the bottom of the frame put North Georgia back on top by five

WRAPUP

- Abbie Crawford got the win, moving to 2-0
- She allowed a run on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out one and walking one
- Aubrey Reep took the loss, falling to 3-2
- She struck out seven in 3 2/3, allowing four earned runs on four hits

GAME TWO | #2 North Georgia 8 Wingate 0 (5 innings)

KEY STATS

- The Nighthawks out-hit the Bulldogs 9-1
- UNG had five extra-base hits including three homers; Wingate's lone hit was a double
- North Georgia left three on base; the Bulldogs stranded two
- Wingate had the lone error of the contest
- UNG struck out four and walked one; WU had three strikeouts and two walks

KEY BULLDOGS

- Savanna Swickard went one-for-two with a double
- Danielle Kirchhofer went 4 1/3 with three strikeouts, adding a stolen base on the day

FIRST INNING

- Simmons connected on a two-run homer in the bottom of the first
- Hammontre added a two-run single to make it 4-0

THIRD INNING

- A Wingate error allowed a run to cross the plate in the third to make it 5-0

FIFTH INNING

- A Simmons solo put the Nighthawks up by six
- A two-run shot from Mosteller ended the game

WRAPUP

- Laken Chambers got the win, moving to 3-0
- She tossed five shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out four
- Kale took the loss, allowing two runs on a hit in one-third of an inning
