Wingate, N.C.----McCann Mellett blasted three of Wingate's six homers Friday afternoon, leading the Bulldogs to a doubleheader sweep over visiting Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference baseball action at Ron Christopher Stadium and Plyler Athletic Field. Wingate won both games 12-7, improving to 16-7 overall and 12-6 in the SAC. The Eagles fall to 15-7 overall and 10-4 in league play.

GAME ONE | Wingate 12 Carson-Newman 7

- Dansky followed with a three-run shot to right to put the 'Dogs on top by four

- McKay led off the inning with a single, then stole second
- He scored on Mellett's RBI single to make it 10-5

SIXTH INNING

- A Gunnar Ricketts two-run homer pulled the Eagles within three
- Wingate answered with two runs in the bottom of the frame
- Mellett's second homer of the day was a solo shot to right center
- Bryant followed with a solo shot to right center to make it 12-5

WRAPUP

- Nash got the win, moving to 4-3
- He allowed seven runs on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings, striking out four
- Johnson got the save, tossing 1 2/3 shutout innings without allowing a hit
