Wingate and Carson-Newman split Saturday doubleheader

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs wrapped up a 5-1 week in league play with a doubleheader split against Carson-Newman University in South Atlantic Conference softball action Saturday afternoon. Wingate won the opener 4-1, while the Eagles rallied for an 8-7 victory in game two. The Bulldogs move to 13-11 overall and 6-4 in the SAC while Carson-Newman goes to 16-8 overall and 9-7 in league play.

- Reep got the win, moving to 4-2 on the year
- She allowed one run on three hits in six innings, striking out seven and walking four
- Knuckles worked a perfect seventh inning to earn the save
- Lacie Rinus took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in six innings
