#8 Wingate hits 20-goal mark for sixth time this year with 24-3 win over LMU

Wingate, N.C.----The eighth-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs scored the first 15 goals Sunday afternoon, cruising to a 24-3 victory over visiting Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Graham Gill Field. Wingate improves to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the SAC, while the Railsplitters fall to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in league play. The 'Dogs have scored at least 20 goals in six of nine games this season, piling up goals in two games this week.

- Bobby Padden had four goals and three assists to lead the 'Dogs

- Reese Orman had four caused turnovers and five ground balls

FIRST PERIOD
 
- Padden scored the first goal less than two minutes in
- Pierpont scored the second goal of the game with 8:43 remaining in the first period
- A Collin Fleming goal from a Padden assist put Wingate up 3-0
- Stenstrom scored Wingate's fourth goal of the game with 2:56 left in the period, extending the Bulldog lead four
 
SECOND PERIOD
 
- Padden scored a man-down goal, making it 5-0 less than four minutes in
- Padden's next goal came from a Grieco assist
- A Vodovnik goal extended the lead 7-0 for the Bulldogs
- The next five goals from Padden, Vodovnik, Grieco, Stenstrom and Pierpont, making it 12-0 at halftime
 
THIRD PERIOD
 
- Piazza scored two man-up goals within the first five minutes of the second half
- Daman Lingasin scored Wingate's 15th goal with 9:48 left in the third
- Lincoln Memorial got on the board with 5:52 to go in the frame
- Orman scored the last goal of the period, making it 16-1
 
FOURTH PERIOD
 
- Vodovnik scored in the first minute to extend the lead to 16
- Goals from Zachary Pizzimenti and Ben Robertson put the 'Dogs on top 19-1
- Tyler Dooley scored a goal off a Noah Taylor assist, making it 22-2 with 8:24 left in the game
- Ethan Schmidt's goal with 6:52 remaining extended the lead 23-2
- Wingate's final goal of the game came from Dooley, making the final margin 24-3
