Bulldogs and Saints split Tuesday doubleheader

Wingate, N.C.----The Limestone University Saints used a four-run seventh inning to rally for a 5-3 victory in game one of Tuesday's South Atlantic Conference softball doubleheader at Wingate University. The Bulldogs responded with a 7-2 victory in game two to move to 14-12 overall and 7-5 in the SAC, while the Saints go to 14-16 overall and 6-10 in league play.

- The Saints had two of the three extra-base hits
- Each team committed an error
- The Bulldogs left seven on base; the Saints stranded four

- She scored on a Maness single and Limestone error to put Wingate on top 2-1

- A double, walk and Wingate error loaded the bases for Limestone in the top of the seventh
- A hit batsman made it a one-run game
- A two-run single from Womack put the Saints on top 4-3
- Katie Wilbur followed with an RBI single to give Limestone a two-run advantage

WRAPUP

- Haley White got the win, moving to 9-5, allowing three runs on eight hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking two
- Reep took the loss, allowing five runs (one earned) on four hits in 6 1/3 innings, striking out three and walking two

- RBI doubles from Chloe Thomas and Ashley Purnell pulled Limestone within four

- Katy Kahlich ripped a one-out double to right center
- Sara Stroud came back in to run for Kahlich and scored on Cashwell's RBI groundout to make it 7-2

WRAPUP

- Kale got the win, moving to 7-4
- She allowed two runs on four hits in 4 2/3 innings, striking out five without walking a batter
- Kirchhofer got the save, allowing just two hits in 2 1/3 shutout innings
- Caroline Ruth took the loss, allowing six runs on seven hits in 2 1/3 innings
