Charlotte, N.C.----The Wingate University Bulldogs wrapped up a perfect opening weekend by taking down Chowan and Lander Saturday afternoon on day two of the Queens Invitational. Wingate defeated the Hawks 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-16, 25-23), then prevailed 3-0 over the Bearcats (25-17, 25-17, 25-21) to improve to 4-0 on the season.

- Stacherski and Rayah Givens teamed for a block to cap the set

SECOND SET

- A Putnam kill gave Chowan a 6-3 lead, but a Givens block tied it at nine
- Chowan used a 7-0 run to take an 18-10 lead on a Ciara Ortega kill
- Two Ahrens kills cut the lead to four
- Kills from Sutphin and Schaff made it a two-point frame at 21-19
- Chowan scored the final four points of the set, with an Ellie Middleton kill ending it

THIRD SET

- A kill and a block from Schaff, followed by an Ahrens kill put the 'Dogs on top 8-2
- A Schaff ace made it 11-5, while a Kasprak kill put Wingate on top 12-6
- Kills from Ahrens and Sutphin stretched the advantage to seven at 17-10
- A Kasprak kill and Sutphin block made it 22-14; kills from Stacherski and Sutphin ended the set

FOURTH SET

- Two Sutphin kills put the Bulldogs on top 13-11
- An Ortega kill put the Hawks ahead 16-14
- Blackley and Sutphin answered with kills to put the 'Dogs back on top by a point
- Two Wingate errors gave Chowan a 20-19 advantage
- Blackley and Sutphin put the Bulldogs back on top with back-to-back kills

- Two Schaff kill and a Lambillotte ace gave the Bulldogs an 8-3 lead in the third
- A Maya Walker ace caped a 6-0 run to give Lander an 11-10 advantage
- A Sydney Bellamy kill pushed the lead to three at 16-13
- Wingate answered with a 7-0 run, getting a Lambillotte kill and three Kasprak blocks to take a 20-16 lead
- Two WU attack errors got Lander within one at 21-20
- Schaff and Kasprak answered with kills to make it 23-20
- A Lambillotte kill put Wingate on top 24-21; Sutphin ended it with a kill
