Wingate announces updates to attendance policies

Wingate, N.C.----The Wingate University Athletic Department, in conjunction with the University's COVID task force, has announced an update to the attendance policy for men's and women's basketball, along with men's and women's swimming. Effective immediately, only those on the pass lists of the basketball student-athletes will be permitted inside Cuddy Arena. Visiting fans, along with Wingate community members, will not be permitted to attend. This will be Wingate's policy through at least the end of January while the University is temporarily starting classes in an online-only format due to the Omicron variant of Covid-19. Any changes to the attendance policies will be announced in February.

As long as this policy is in place, only those that are on the student-athlete's pass list will be permitted to Wingate basketball games. This policy will begin with Wingate's next home doubleheader, which is Wednesday, Jan. 19, hosting Lenoir-Rhyne. In addition, all those in attendance must wear face coverings at all times when inside Cuddy Arena, and safely socially distance, if possible.
