Daytona Beach, Fla.----The 17th-ranked Embry-Riddle University Eagles prevailed 83-73 over Wingate University in NCAA Division II men's basketball action Saturday night. The Eagles improve to 6-0 overall, while the Bulldogs fall to 2-3 on the season.

- A Jerry Bracey three-point play gave the Eagles an 18-15 edge at the halfway point
- Two Michael McCalister free throws at the 6:38 mark put Embry-Riddle on top by seven
- An Elmore triple pulled the Bulldogs back within four
- A pair of Dru Nickson free throws with 2:52 remaining put ERU on top 33-22
- Nixon's triple capped a 6-0 Wingate run that cut the lead to five
- Whitlow's bucket with 32 seconds left gave the Eagles a 40-32 halftime lead

SECOND HALF

- WU opened the half on an 11-3 run, getting eight points from Massey to tie it at 43
- A four-point play from Cottingham gave the Bulldogs a 47-45 lead
- Massey followed with another bucket to put Wingate on top by four with 15:43 to go
- Embry-Riddle scored the next 12, taking a 57-49 lead on a Chris Murray three-point play
- Threes from Cottingham and Massey cut the lead to four at the midway point
- Andreas Wilson buried a triple with 8:44 remaining to make it a two-point game
- Bracey answered with a three to put the Eagles back on top by five
- A Roberts layup at the 4:28 mark cut the lead to four at 75-71
- A Wesley Simpson three-point play pushed the lead back to seven for Embry-Riddle
- Clark's layup pulled Wingate back within five with 2:48 remaining
- A McCalister dunk and Whitlow layup pushed the lead to 10 with a minute left
