#25 Wingate falls in epic five-set match against #9 West Texas A&M in national quarterfinals

Seattle, Wash.----The sixth-seeded and 25th-ranked Wingate University Bulldogs saw their season come to an end in heart breaking fashion Thursday afternoon, falling 3-2 against third-seeded and ninth-ranked West Texas A&M in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II women's volleyball national championships. The Lady Buffs prevailed 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 22-25 and 15-12 to improve to 31-4 overall and advance to the national semifinals, while the Bulldogs end their season at 32-3.

FIRST SET

- WU raced out to a 7-1 lead, getting two kills and a block from Johnson along with two Wilform kills
- The Lady Buffs used a 9-0 run to take a 13-10 lead, getting three Bryli Contreras aces
- Two Wilform kills, followed by a kill and a block from Saye cut the lead to one at 16-15
- Wilform's block tied it at 19
- Another Contreras ace capped a 3-0 run that put A&M on top 22-19
- A Young block, followed by kills from Lambillotte and Saye tied it at 22
- A Kayla Elliott kill gave the Lady Buffs a 24-22 lead, but a Saye kill cut the lead to one

SECOND SET

- Kills from Wilform and Saye, along with a Kasprak ace made it 19-11
