What They Are Saying
Wingate sophomore pole vaulter
Vince Frattaroli
"At first, I thought the meet was going to go badly for me because I wasn't doing anything good during the warmups. When I clear my first height, I started to feel pretty good. With the helpful coaching from (graduate assistant)
Andy Kopp, I was able to get a new PR and school record! I appreciate my coaches, who continue to make me better every day. I would say that my season has gone really well because I was able to improve from my last meet. I always like being around my team, they make practices fun and they push me to make myself better every day. I am looking forward to competing with them at the conference meet."
Wingate senior sprinter
Abby Heath
Friday, I ran the 400 meter leg in the Distance Medley Relay with my teammates
Tatjana Mense,
Anna Torras and
Mollie Scott. We were trying to qualify for NCAAs in this event and were expecting a much better race than what was performed, but it was our first time racing together on a relay, so we are happy with the effort that we put in and were grateful to be given the chance to run."
"Going into Saturday, I knew that I had to do well in order to put myself in a good place going into the conference meet next weekend, so I was pretty nervous all morning, but I was also eager and so excited to see what I would be able to do. It was pretty intense being put into such a fast heat, but I knew that it was what I needed to give me the extra push."
"I am so thankful for all my teammates for doing what they do best and cheering me on during my race Saturday. It is always nice knowing that not only am I cheering for myself, but they are, too. I ended up setting an almost two-second indoor PR, so I am extremely happy with how this weekend turned out and am already looking forward to what is next."
"Going into next weekend, we are all anticipating a hard but good week of practice to get us ready for the indoor conference meet. I am so proud of all my teammates for putting in hard work day in and day out and I am so excited to see what indoor conference and the outdoor season will bring us."
