12-0 victory highlights day one of Red-White-Blue Classic for Bulldogs

Columbus, Ga.----The Wingate University Bulldogs opened up the Red-White-Blue Classic with a five-inning 12-0 victory over Georgia College Saturday afternoon in NCAA Division II softball action. Columbus State rallied for a 4-3 victory in the second contest, as the Bulldogs move to 8-3 on the season.

- Wingate out-hit Georgia College 10-1
- The Bulldogs had all three extra-base hits and the lone homer
- The 'Dogs left eight on base; the Bobcats stranded one
- Neither team committed an error

- Savanna Brooks was two-for-four with a homer, three RBI and four runs scored

- Back-to-back walks put two more on for Wingate

- Liles followed with an RBI groundout to push the lead to 10

- A walk and Brooks single started the frame
- Alyssa Hall scored on a wild pitch
- Maness added a sacrifice fly to make it 12-0

WRAPUP

- Scott got the win, moving to 1-1
- She allowed just one single in four shutout innings of work
- Golden Thrower took the loss, allowing six runs on five hits in 1 2/3 innings
